上海交通大学设计学院教授，博士生导师，2005年创建上海交通大学芳香植物研发中心主任，成为至今为止国内为数不多的专业从事芳香植物品种资源，精油提取与分析，精油功效性及安全性研究，和康复花园芳香植物配置的研究机构。讲授“芳香植物精油与芳香疗法课程”，“保健型园林营建理论与实践”，“高级植物生理学”等课程，在国内帮助建立17个芳香植物种植基地，发表学术论文113篇（SCI篇11篇），发明专利25项，帮助企业开发芳香植物相关产品19种，上海市曙光学者，曾获省部级科学进步三等奖（排名第二），培养博士生6人，博士后1人，研究生61人，本科生56人。编写十三五创新教材《芳香按摩实践》一部，科普书籍《芳香植物》二本，任中国香精香料化妆品工业协会专家委会副主任委员，国内核心学术期刊《香料香精化妆品》编委会委员等职，任中国医疗保健国际交流促进会植物芳香分会副会长，中国民族医药学会芳香医药分会副会长，专家委员会副主任，上海市政协委员，市政协农业与农村专业委员会副主任，民盟上海市委员会常委，上海交通大学民盟主委。

专业及主要研究方向：芳香植物品种资源研究、芳香植物有效成分提取加工技术、有效成分安全性与功效性研究、康复花园建设等。

Professor Yao Lei is the Director of the Center. She is the Professor with Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Agriculture and Biology, Doctoral Tutor, acquired Master's and Doctoral Degrees in 1994 and 1997 respectively in Japan, established China's first Aromatic Plant Research Center, the first scholar edited aromatic plant teaching materials and established the applied disciplines for aromatic plants in Chinese Universities. She is the Science and Technology Reward and Assessment Experts for the Ministry of Education, the Deputy Director of Expert Committee of Chinese Spices and Cosmetics Research Center, and other influential positions. She published 63 papers at SCI and the core journals, committed and completed 39 projects in the efficacy and safety of scientific research of aromatic plants and essential oils, awarded 22 patents of National Invention, and helped enterprises to develop 47 aromatic plant products. She edited the teaching material"Aromatic Plant"and so on 5 parts, opened "Advanced plant physiology","Aromatic Plant Essential Oils and Aromatherapy", "Health Garden Construction Theory and Practice", "Natural Therapy", "Plant Natural Product "and other courses for graduate and undergraduate students. She taught 6 doctoral, 51 master's, 61 undergraduate students, and at the same time trained technical staffs for the production bases and over 30 aromatherapy specialist for the enterprises. She has been invited to Japan, France, South Korea, Canada, Indonesia, Bulgaria and other countries for academic conferences, and was invited as keynote speaker at large spices and essential oils of the academic conferences at home and abroad.
